Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of catapleiite from Mont Saint Hilaire!!! This specimen consists of a handsome cluster of sharp
catapleiite crystals on matrix in association with gemmy crystals of rhodochrosite!!! The catapleiite crystals have
sharp, glassy faces with gorgeous bluish iridescence!!! It is difficult to discern from the pics, however in person every
lustrous face on the catapleiite crystals exhibits a pronounced bluish iridescence (not unlike an insect's wing)!!! The effect
is really quite striking!!! The crystals are in fantastic condition and have marked translucence!!! Some of the crystals
exhibit some highly complex, etched and irregular surfaces, however they are not damage!!! There is one large crystal
that appears to be broken, however this is a natural feature that happened in situ and has apparently healed!!! The associated
rhodochrosite crystals are embedded within the matrix and exhibit marked clarity with deep reddish pink color!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
