Description/Interesting Notes:
An amazing, old time example of cerussite from this historic locale!!! This specimen hosts
two complex crystals of cerussite prominently perched atop an altered galena crystal matrix!!! The
crystals are sharp, lustrous, complete, and undamaged!!! The crystals measure up to nearly 1.7cm!!! The cerussite
crystals have a gorgeous amber-brown coloration that is concentrated at opposing faces!!! One
of the cerussite crystals has a small amount of quartz on one face as well!!! The matrix
consists of a large, complex crystal of altered galena with some quartz in association!!! This
specimen is in superb condition all around displays gorgeously in person!!! This specimen
dates to the 19th century and is a magnificent example of the species from this historic locality!!!
This specimen is
from the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia and retains its original old label that
notes it was from the collection of Edward D. Drown (1861-1919)!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
