Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible example of quartz, chalcedony, and patrified wood from Canada!!! This specimen consists of a section of
petrified wood that hosts a complex, clam-like form of chalcedony coated with quartz crystals!!! Much of the
chalcedony is covered with druzy quartz crystals there is a prominent ridge that hosts a cluster of large,
significant quartz crystals!!! There are areas of colorless, botryoidal chalcedony surrounding the cluster of
quartz crystals and "dripping" down the petrified wood!!! The petrified wood exhibits prominent details like
concentric rings and "bark"!!! This specimen has a striking appearance in person - almost looking like a
geomorphic representation of some kind of unusual fungus growing on a broken log or other such natural scene!!! Another
interesting aspect of this specimen is that it exhibits three forms of quartz in one specimen - petrified wood, chalcedony, and
prominent quartz crystals!!! This specimen is simply gorgeous in person!!! This specimen is from the University of
Delaware Mineralogical Museum as well!!! Old material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
