Chalcocite with Calcite

Bristol Copper Mine, Bristol, Hartford Co., Connecticut

13cm x 6.74cm x 5.76cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic, old time chalcocite from this historic Connecticut locality!!! These old time Bristol chalcocite specimens date to the mid-1800's!!! This classic beauty consists of a large specimen that hosts a face covered with complex chalcocite crystals in association with calcite!!! The chalcocite crystals range in size to nearly 2cm and exhibit all manner of complex habits!!! Quite often, these old time chalcocite specimens will have been etched out of calcite - however this old timer is completely natrual, hosting complex unaltered calcite crystals!!! The calcite also provides a handsome contrast to the darkly colored chalcocite crystals!!! This specimen retains an old, unattributed catalogue number on the reverse as well!!! The pics hardly do this specimen justice - WAY better than the pictures show!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 23rd!!!
