Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific, old time example of gold-bearing chalcopyrite from Virginia!!! This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that hosts a
showy mass of brilliantly iridescent, golden chalcopyrite!!! The chalcopyrite has a particularly rich, brassy hue with numerous showy iridescent
blue-purple accents!!! The label identifies this material as "auriferous" or gold-bearing
chalcopyrite, which means this chalcopyrite contains a certain amount of gold!!! There is also a very interesting, highly complex
quartz crystal that exhibits an almost hemispherical habit that is highlighted by some iron-staining!!! This quartz crystal exhibits
well defined, highly complex, lustrous faces that are truly fascinating upon close inspection!!! This specimen retains old labels from the
A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum as well!!! The pics hardly do this handsome old timer justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 11th!!!
