Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of chlorargyrite from Tombstone!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of
translucent yellow-green chlorargyrite on matrix!!! Although it is difficult to discern in the pictures, the chlorargyrite is
actually quite well crystallized and shows a network of tiny, lustrous faces across its broad surface!!! The chlorargyrite is
thick and dense with marked translucence and luster!!! Upon close examination with a loupe or scope, one can see some submillimeter bits
of native gold on one corner (much of the gold that was
mined in Tombstone was found in association with chlorargyrite - this is CLASSIC Tombstone material)!!!
Specimens like this are very rarely seen today!!! This specimen doesn't retain the
original label, however it should be noted that this specimen was acquired with specimen No. DM-3766 from
the A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum that had originally come from the collection of Elton W. Walker (there were
a few smaller specimens of identical material along with the labelled specimen - while they were not parts
of the specimen, they were clearly the same exact material and likely from the same original mass)!!! Rare old time material!!! The
pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
