An old time example of "lead silver ore" from this classic Colorado locale!!! This specimen consists of a dense admixture of
cerussite and chlorargyrite that is likely the result of the alteration of silver-rich galena!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or
scope one can see there there are some very crude cubic features scattered about which are the remains of altered galena crystals!!! The
cerussite and chlorargyrite are mainly present as a cement-like admixture and small grains and crusts!!!
This is old time material from the collection of A.W. Pinner (one time head chemist at Franklin, NJ) and
A.E. Seaman Museum!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
