Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of native silver and chlorargyrite from this famous historic locality!!! This specimen consists of a VERY rich mass of
grayish chlorargryite and native silver in matrix!!! The native silver is present as a finely branching dendritic network of darkly colored
crystals distributed throughout the lighter gray band of chlorargyrite and small grains of quartz!!!
As you can see, the chlorargyrite is quite rich indeed!!! This specimen is MOSTLY chlorargyrite and silver!!!
In person the chlorargyrite and native silver are much easier to distinguish as well!!! Upon close inspection, the
features of both species are well defined - the pics hardly do it justice!!!
This is OLD material that dates to the 19th century!!! This rare, old Comstock lode material is very rare indeed!!! What is exciting
about this particular specimen is that, to my understanding, this is a characteristic example of earlier Comstock material from the
uppermost layers!!! This specimen retains an affixed old label (as well as the remains of an old enamel-style label as well)!!!
(While the
other specimens I had from this group were labeled as "Justice Mine" at Gold Hill, the notation of "Gold Hill Mine" might also point to this specimens
slightly "earlier" (relatively speaking) time period as well!!!) Don't miss out on this incredible, old timer example of "silver ore" from Nevada!!! The
pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 3rd!!!
