Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of chlorophoenicite from Sterling Hill!!! This specimen consists of a matrix of calcite and willemite that hosts a
broad face with pristine "pocket" crystals of franklinite and a rich showing of colorless needles of chlorophoenicite!!!
Upon close ispection in person, this specimen is loaded with chlorophoenicite needles all over, however there are numerous thick bundles and
compressed plates/mattes of crystals that are quite sigificant as well!!! There are some unidentified species present as microcrystals as well (the
previous label mentions tan baryte crytals as well, but I could not find any to photograph)!!! This
broad face apparently was one wall of an open pocket which allowed for the formation of such perfect franklinite crystals!!! The willemite
crystals are reddish, rounded crystals distributed throughout the matrix that fluoresce a bright yellow-green under SW UV, however the face of this specimen
fluoresces an intense yellow-green because of all the chlorophoenicite as well!!! There is a lot more to see than the pics show!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY NOVEMBER 10th!!!
