Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of chrysoberyl from this famous and historic Connecticut locale!!! These
famous chrysoberyl specimens came from a small find that dates to the early 1800's when a small find
of this remarkable material was found in a "vein cropping out on the north-side courtyard and extending into the cellar
of the old Cephus Brainerd House on Walkley Hill Road"!!! These rare, old time Connecticut chrysoberyls were
the first discovery of the species found in situ (earlier Brazilian material was alluvial)!!! This specimen
hosts an impressively sized crystal of yellow green chrysoberyl in association with spessartine garnet!!! The chrysoberyl
has sharply defined features and exhibits characteristic cyclic twinning!!! The crystal measures an impressive 2.8cm!!! There
are numerous small, dark red spessartine garnet crystals scattered about, as well as a few large areas of massive spessartine as well!!!
A very fine and showy old time example of this famous historic find!!! Don't miss out on this rare and valuable opportunity!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
