Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare example of chrysocolla after azurite from Idaho!!! This specimen consists of a complex group of azurite crystals that has been completely replaced by chrysocolla!!!
This specimen is actually a "double pseudomorph" in that it appears to have altered to malachite before being further altered to chrysocolla!!! While this specimen is completely comprised of solid
chrysocolla, one can discern some small areas that exhibit the remnants of individual, criss-crossing, fiber-like malachite crystals on the main crystal!!! The chrysocolla
in these areas shows a decidedly greener hue as well!!! The crystals are surprisingly sharp for pseudomorphs (let alone doubly altered pseudomorphs) - with
very sharp faces and pronounced glassy luster!!! These incredible specimens were part of a very small find made by Bart Cannon decades ago!!! This specimen came from the
collection of Margaret Gross, a noted California field collector who specialized in collecting pseudomorphs (among other things)!!! Few
collectors have ever seen these incredible pseudos!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 24th!!!
