Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of chrysocolla from this seldom referenced ancient locality - King Solomon Mine in Israel!!!
This is a TRUE example of what is sometimes called "Eilat Stone" from Israel!!! This specimen consists of a rich showing
of chrysocolla that hosts a range of rich blue and green colors in association with massive chalcocite!!! The broad face of the
specimen hosts a layer of curious, somewhat fibrous-looking chrysocolla and, in person, one can see patches of color within the specimen that
are quite unlike material from anywhere else I know of!!!
This material is simply incredible upon close
inspection!!! This is an OLD specimen acquired by Peppis during one of several collecting trips to the region!!!
True, old time examples this material are virtually nonexistent on the market!!! Rare and incredible material!!! The
pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Albert Peppis was born July 5th, 1899 and died July 12th, 1989 in
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where his collection had layed dormant for nearly 20 years until our acquisition of the
collection!!! Albert was an avid mineral collector and prolific field collector throughout the northeastern United
States!!! Peppis collected most prolifically between the late 1920's throughout the 1960's although he coninued to
acquire specimens in his later years as well!!! Albert was both a member of the Franklin Ogdensburg Mineralogical
Society and the New York City Mineralogical Society!!! Peppis was a close friend of Alvin and Raymond Schortmann
and collected extensively with them at the Ruggles Mine in New Hampshire during the trips that began their mineral
dealing careers!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
