Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific, old time example of clinochlore from this historic New York locale!!!
This specimen hosts numerous sharply defined, deep green, crystals of clinoclore - some of which are quite
elongated along the c-axis!!! The crystals have a unique translucence and a somewhat altered outer surface and it
appears there are some significant areas of pseudomorphism present on this specimen as well (there is
certainly much more going on with this specimen than just these curious clinochlore crystals)!!!
This specimen is WAY better than the pics show!!! Unique, old time material from this historic locale!!!
Specimens from this locality date to the 19th century (this locality ceased operation in 1897 after a tragic and
deadly mining accident)!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the
collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and
there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer
collection this specimen was originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
