An INCREDIBLE example of clinochlore var. pennine from Austria!!! Pennine is a pseudo-trigonal variety of clinochlore and this is an amazing example indeed!!!
Let me start by saying that in person, this specimen has remarkable gemminess and an amazing color-change property where the crystals show intense, deep chromic
green color gem clarity when viewed through the c-axis BUT when viewed on edge, the gemmy crystals show a remarkable reddish root-beer brown color!!! In
person this pleochroic color changing affect is truly remarkable (it was just very difficult to capture in the photos!)!!! The crystals
show incredible, razor-sharp triangular features and brilliant, glassy luster!!! There are numerous acicular crystals of white and colorless
diopside present as well!!! The entire specimen shows brilliant luster and deep, intense chrome green (to bluish green) color throughout!!!
This is one of the rare examples of clinochlore that I found truly impressive!!! This is fine, gem quality clinochlore that
exhibits superb crystallization combined with gorgeous color and remarkable pleochroic color change as well!!! This amazing old time specimen
retains an old Schortmann's label as well!!! Simply incredible in person!!!
