Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic, old time example of colemanite from the Thomson Mine!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of sharp, lustrous, blocky crystals of
colemanite that host an unusual yellowish orange phantom within!!! The crystals have highly complex faces with marked clarity and glassy luster!!! The
crystals also have a slightly pinkish hue in areas as well!!! The crystals are complete and undamaged!!! This is a killer old time colemanite indeed!!! The
pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! This specimen is from the collection of Wolfgang Pohl and retains his original label as well!!!
Wolfgang Pohl worked in the mining industry in Namibia in the 70s and 80s and was a prolific collector and dealer
during and after this time!!! He would make trips back and forth to his native Germany trading specimens he had
acquired in Africa for worldwide specimens!!! Pohl was rather meticulous with his labeling and record keeping
with most of the specimens in the collection having catalogue numbers, label with info on locale, source/dealer info,
acquisition date, and any other relevant notes!!! However, the most interesting feature is that most of the labels also
had a small sketch of the specimen on the reverse side as well!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
