Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely exceptional example of diamond crystals in MATRIX from Venezuela!!! This specimen consists of a
very hard conglomerate matrix that hosts no less than FIVE individual diamond crystals measuring up to 2mm!!!
While I have always been skeptical of any matrix diamond specimens - kimberlite specimens are often repaired and there have
been many infamous fakes of conglomerate specimens - however this specimen is 100% natural (these South American conglomerate diamond
specimens are actually quite historic - we recently found old 19th century color plates of such specimens!)!!! Not only was this specimen soaked
in several different solvents "just in case" it was also examined under UV light and very closely inspected under the stereoscope as well!!!
As if that weren't enough, I acquired it with only two diamonds exposed and after further trimming, I found THREE more crystals INSIDE
the specimen!!! This is a 100% natural example of a TRUE, MATRIX diamond specimen!!! The diamond crystals are prominently
exposed and exhibit a variety of forms!!! The crystals are all eye visible and range in size from 1.5mm to 2mm!!! The crystals
are all complete and undamaged!!! There is a razor sharp, gem clear octahedral crystal as well as a flattened, triangular macle twin, and
several other more complex, modified forms!!! One crystal even exhibits some light pale greenish color - a feature that is rare but
characteristic of this locality!!! This is a KILLER specimen - rarely do you find a matrix specimen with one diamond - let alone FIVE
significant crystals (and there are likely more given further exploration and trimming!)!!! You do not want to miss out
on this valuable rarity!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 4th!!!
