A fantastic example of native copper from this historic Canadian locality!!! This specimen consists of a highly complex and
aesthetic grouping of arborescent native copper crystals!!! The crystals are very sharp and have highly complex
features and modifications!!! The large, broad crystal appears to be a highly complex and distorted spinel twin with unusual stepped features!!!
These crystals have razor-sharp details and features and brilliant, metallic luster!!! In addition to the unique habit, the specimen has a unique and showy patina as well!!!
The crystal has areas that have a significant silver hue, while others
appear golden and still other areas show brilliant iridescent accents!!! It is worth noting
that this area, Cape D'Or, got its name when Samuel de Champlain visited the Bay of Fundy in 1604 because the area's native
copper reminded him of gold!!! With incredible examples like this it is no wonder why Champlain could've made such a mistake!!! This locality is located along the
shoreline in the Bay of Fundy and is a VERY difficult and dangerous place to collect - as such specimens are rather
scarce and seldom seen on the market!!! This specimen is simply incredible in person!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
