Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare example of native copper from Butte!!! This specimen consists of a complex network of native copper crystals partially embedded in matrix!!! Examples of
native copper were quite rare at Butte and this is a fantastic example indeed!!! This specimen comes from the collection of noted
Butte collector and scholar Bob Jenkins and retains his personal collection label and affixed catalogue number as well!!! Complex crystal
forms can be seen throughout the copper and it exhibits an attractive and varied patina!!!
What appears to be malachite in the pictures are just superficial coatings on what is actually more native copper - although it is
brightly colored, none of the malachite
is more than paper thin!!! An absolutely magnificent example of the species from Butte!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person
to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 14th!!!
