Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of native copper after cuprite from Tsumeb!!! This specimen hosts numerous crystals of cuprite that have
been completely replaced by native copper crystals on a white matrix covered with tiny white dolomite crystals!!! One can see the networks of
finely crystallized native copper that retains the overall cubo-octahedral form of the original cuprite crystals!!! While the
pseudomorphs retain the original habit of the cuprite crystals, there are certain crystals of native copper deviate from the
pseudomorphic form and jut out in dramatic fashion!!! These elongated native copper crystals have tips that are highlighted by
a microcrystalline coating of reddish cuprite!!! This specimen is simply incredible in person - the copper crystals have brilliant luster and
an attractive, multi-hued patina!!!
