Description/Interesting Notes:
An old, rare example of datolite crystals richly included with native copper!!! While datolite nodules are commonly
seen from this region, actual CRYSTALS of datolite are seldom encountered!!! This specimen consists of a group of intergrown
datolite crystals that are SO richly included with bright native copper that they almost appear to be gilded metallic crystals!!! However, upon
close inspection, one finds that all the copper is deep inside the crystals!!! The crystals exhibit a curious network
of highly complex faces that appear to be a mix of contact faces with somewhat velvety luster and regular faces, with brilliant glassy luster!!! The
largest crystal measures over 2.5cm!!! This specimen displays magnificently and is
quite striking in person!!! This is a very significant Michigan old timer indeed!!! This specimen
retains an old A.E. Seaman Museum label with Hird Collection notatino!!! In person this specimen is brilliantly lively and very eye-catching!!! The
pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
