Native Copper & Cuprite after Rope Ray Mine, Mineral Creek District, Dripping Spring Mts, Pinal Co., Arizona 6.6cm x 1.9cm x 1.64cm

Description/Interesting Notes: An absolutely AMAZING example of native copper and cuprite replacing ROPE from Arizona!!! This amazing specimen was originally acquired through a mining engineer who had worked at the Ray Mine!!! During work underground, they broke through to an old, abandoned tunnel last worked well over a century ago!!! Over the 100 plus years in the mine this piece of rope had completely disintegrated and was replaced by native copper and cuprite!!! Truly AMAZING material!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can see some complex subhedral forms and other intriguing features!!! The spiralling shape of the rope makes for a particularly graceful and aesthetic specimen indeed!!! It was difficult to capture just how impressive this specimen is in the pics!!! A VERY unique mineral oddity indeed!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
