An incredible example of native copper replacing wood from Arizona!!! This amazing specimen was
originally acquired through a mining engineer who had worked at the Ray Mine!!! During work underground, they broke
through to an old, abandoned tunnel last worked well over a century ago!!! Over the 100 plus years in the mine this
piece of wood from a mining timber completely was completely replaced by native copper!!! What makes this specimen so incredible
is that it is solid and very well crystallized!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can see
that the specimen shows an amazing combination of woodgrain details and crystalline features!!! There are a few
tiny areas of wood still remaining that are fully integrated with the native copper (under close examination one
can see minute areas of the wood altering to native copper - almost down to a cellular level)!!! This is
an extraordinary example of this unusual phenomenon - rarely do you see such fine crystallization as well!!!
Simply incredible material - a very unique mineral oddity indeed!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
