Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific pair of sapphire specimens from New Jersey!!! This pair of specimens came from the Harold Buckelew Collection (b.1889) and are
labelled as being from Hamburg and Newton (the smaller one is labelled Hamburg, the larger is labelled Newton) and they both have affixed
catalogue numbers (#420) that correspond to this single Buckelew label!!! Although they are labelled as Hamburg and Newton, they are almost
certainly from the Limecrest Quarry area since, back then, Newton was the nearest large town and specimens were often labelled this way at the time!!!
The smaller specimen hosts several dark blue, lustrous partial crystals in matrix and has an affixed handwritten label as well!!! The larger specimen is
quite striking - hosting numerous highly complex, multiply hued, sapphire crystals!!! The pictures hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 10th!!!
