An absolutely fantastic example of covellite from Peru!!! This large specimen hosts a very rich showing of lamellar blades of purplish-blue iridescent covellite
in association with unidentified sulfides in a quartzite matrix!!! The covellite shows a very curvaceous and swirly pattern that is quite unique indeed!!!
In addition, there is a complex box-work of crystal casts left by an unknown species!!! The iridescence, combined with the complex
crystallography, makes for an absolutely stunning display that simply cannot be captured in these photographs!!! The specimen is brilliant, lively, and
showy!!! The original collector valued the piece highly and in person it is easy to understand why!!! In several areas there is an unidentified mineral present in some of the
cavities (and elsewhere) that is brilliantly metallic silver and does not appear to be anything "common"!!!
This specimen is from the Albert Peppis Collection and retains its original label!!! We just recently acquired the lifelong collection
of Albert Peppis and will be posting detailed information about both him and the collection to our "About Me" page - so be sure to check it out!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
