Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely EXTRAORDINARY example of colusite and covellite from Butte!!! This is perhaps the finest
example of crystalline colusite I have ever seen from Butte!!! This specimen consists of an showy cluster of
finely bladed covellite crystals - partially altering to chalcocite in association with numerous complex colusite
crystals scattered about in a most aesthetic fashion!!! The covellite crystals are present as sharp, hexagonal blades with
bluish iridescence!!! The slight roughness of the covellite crystals is due not to damage but to
partial alteration to chalcocite - this feature is quite apparent upon close inspection!!! The colusite crystals are present
as sharply defined, rosette-like groups of intergrown crystals!!! These complex colusite crystals range in size to
4mm!!! This specimen is in magnificent condition and displays stunningly in person!!! The discrete crystals are
prominent and sharply defined in person!!! This is truly an extraordinary Butte combo and is in a class by itself!!! This specimen
retains an old Lidstrom's label as well as an old label from Forest Cureton as well!!! Don't miss out on this
rare and exceptional example of colusite in aesthetic combination with covellite!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
