Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible example of covellite from Tsumeb!!! This specimen consists of a complex network of fine, bladed crystals of covellite in association with mimetite, cerussite, and
hematite!!! When we first acquired this specimen I was in disbelief to see such a specimen from Tsumenb, however the gemmy mimetite crystals and
cerussite crystals more than confirmed it!!! The bladed crystals have complex, somewhat irregular forms with highly complex but very ordered patterns on their faces!!!
It is possible that these crystals are the results of decomposed tennantite crystals (the complex patterns on the faces of the crystals are similar to patterns I have
seen on decomposed tennantite crystals!)!!! The mimetite crystals are quite gemmy and scattered about the bladed crystals, as are the small complex crystals of cerussite!!
Upon close examination one can see numerous submillimeter crystals of bladed hematite richly distributed around the specimen!!! Although the crystals are small, they are
exceptionally well formed!!! The crystals are metallic disks and some are thin enough to show hematite's red color!!! In person this unique
Tsumen specimen is quite impressive!!! Tsumeb never ceases to amaze me!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 12th!!!
