Description/Interesting Notes: A superb example of covellite from Butte!!! This specimen consists of a showy cluster of sharp covellite crystals perched on a quartz matrix!!! While this species is most often encountered as somewhat massive material, this specimen exhibits a magnificent showing of complete, individual covellite CRYSTALS that measure to an impressive 1.3cm!!! The crystals are present as sharp hexagonal blades with brilliant, iridescent metallic brilliance!!! The crystals have a striking, metallic blue iridescence with highlights of purples and reds!!! The overall iridscence is pronounced and dramatic in person - the pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! This specimen is in magnificent condition all around and is loaded with undamaged covellite crystals!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
