Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare example of luzonite on covellite from Butte!!! This specimen consists of a showy example of iridescent covellite with pyrite and quartz that
hosts a significant showing of rare luzonite crystals!!! The luzonite crystals are present as groups of submillimeter crystals
on the covellite crystals as well as a few slightly larger individual crystals perched among the pyrite crystals!!! The covellite
crystals have brilliant blue-purple-red iridescence with broad crystalline faces and some sharply defined edges as well!!! There are some
small, complete, and undamaged covellite crystals that are surprisingly thick present as well!!! Not only is this
a magnificent example of this rare species - it is a fantastic example of covellite in and of itself!!! This specimen is from the
personal collection of noted Butte collector and scholar Bob Jenkins and retains his original personal collection label!!! This specimen
also retains an old label from Richard S. Haas as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be
seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 14th!!!
