Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent combination specimen from Butte!!! This specimen hosts numerous fine, brilliantly metallic crystals of iridescent blue
covellite in association with curious, bladed crystals of sphalerite (wurtzite?) on a matrix lined with quartz crystals with scattered
crystals of blue apatite and colorless barite!!! The covellite crystals exhibit characteristic bladed hexagonal form and have
intense iridescent brilliance!!! Many of the covellite crystals are very well formed and sharp!!! Upon close inspection, the sphalerite
actually looks like pseudomorphs after covellite - with clusters of finely bladed crystals of sphalerite!!! These unusual crystals may
be wurtzite crystals or sphalerite pseudomorphs after wurtzite as well - however one thing is certain, they are VERY unusual and very interesting under
close examination!!! There are a number of crystals of light blue to colorless crystals of apatite scattered about the specimen that are
quite well formed with sharp faces and marked clarity!!! Additionally, there are some small but thick blades of colorless barite scattered
among the quartz points and some scattered tiny crystals of pyrite and a few small enargite crystals!!! This specimen is simply amazing in person - there is a LOT
going on here!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 21st!!!
