Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent, old time example of covellite from Italy!!! These historic specimens date to the late 19th and early 20th century and are extremely
scarce today!!! This specimen consists of a striking and an incredibly brilliant group of unusually thick crystals of
intense purple, blue, and magenta iridescent metallic crystals that are aesthetically studded by
sharp, golden crystals of pyrite!!! What makes this specimen so incredible is that these are actually highly complex, extremely thick, individual
crystals of covellite!!! This is not simply a mass of lamellar covellite crystals - this is a group of a few VERY thick crystals!!!
Interestingly, one can see edge faces on the largest crystals!!! This specimen is way, WAY better than the pics show!!! The
color and metallic brilliance are EXTRAORDINARY and unlike that of any other locality I have seen (the pics truly don't capture just how fine it is)!!!
The pyrite crystals are present as uniquely flattened crystals showing sharply geometric shapes,
scattered across the faces of the covellite crystals - a characteristic feature
of the locality!!! Don't miss out on this rare and valuable old time classic!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 27th!!!
