Description/Interesting Notes:
A striking example of crocoite from Tasmania!!! This specimen hosts a sharp, intensely colored crystal of crocoite aesthetically perched on a small amount of
smartly contrasting black matrix!!! The crystal measures 2.6cm and is actually doubly terminated!!! This specimen has been repaired, and while I rarely
sell repaired specimens, I do make exceptions in cases where a specimens are significant or special in some way!!! This specimen is simply gorgeous in person!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Wolfgang Pohl and retains his original label (with the old label of the dealer he got it from affixed as well) and shows
is characteristic "sketch" on the back of the label!!!
Wolfgang Pohl worked in the mining industry in Namibia in the 70s and 80s and was a prolific collector and dealer during
and after this time!!! He would make trips back and forth to his native Germany trading specimens he had acquired in Africa
for worldwide specimens!!! Pohl was rather meticulous with his labeling and record keeping with most of the specimens in the
collection having catalogue numbers, label with info on locale, source/dealer info, acquisition date, and any other relevant
notes!!! However, the most interesting feature is that most of the labels also had a small sketch of the specimen on the reverse side as well!!!
