Description/Interesting Notes:
A superb example of cryolite from Greenland!!! This specimen hosts an impressive showing of well crystallized cryolite on a
matrix of massive cryolite and siderite!!! Cryolite is almost always found as massive material, with crystals being quite rare indeed!!!
This is a very fine example of crystalline cryolite - featuring sharply formed cubic crystals covering one side of the specimen!!!
Although a few of the cryolite crystals are exposed, the majority have a very thin coating of an unidentified brown colored mineral!!! This
coating could be removed if so desired, however I feel it highlights the crystals' forms quite handsomely and - due to their
water-clear nature they might be difficult to discern without the coating!!! Simply a magnificent example of the species!!!
This specimen is from the collection of Thomas J. Campbell, co-author of the Encyclopedia of Minerals!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 19th!!!
