Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of rare, crystalline cryolite with thomsenolite from Greenland!!! This specimen boasts a broad face covered with sharp, cubic crystals of
cryolite, accented by submillimeter crystals of thomsenolite!!! The cryolite crystals are sharp, lustrous, and water-clear!!! There is a thin
layer of brown iron staining that, in person, further highlights the crystals (which are difficult to appreciate in the pics)!!! This iron staining is also sandwiched between
the cryolite and thomsenolite crystals, giving the tiny thomsenolite crystals a curious brownish color (although they are actually colorless)!!! Crystalline
examples of cryolite are quite rare indeed!!! This is a fantastic, old time
example!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen retains its original Seaman Museum collection label with L.L. Hubbard (1849-1933) notation!!! The pics
hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
