Cryolite with Weloganite Francon quarry (Jarry St.), Montréal, Québec, Canada 8.85cm x 7.1cm x 2.8cm Ex. Bill Pinch Collection No. 1008

Description/Interesting Notes: An outstading example of these rare species from the Francon Quarry!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of sharply crystallized cryolite and welogonite crystals!!! I must start by saying that this specimen is WAY better than the pictures show!!! The high quality of the crystals actually made them quite difficult to capture in the photos!!! The welogonite crystals are present as sharp, translucent, terminated crystals to over 1.1cm!!! The cryolite crystals are present as razor-sharp crystals with glassy faces and water-clear GEM clarity that range from perfectly colorless to an intense sulfur-yellow!!! The cryolite crystals have faces ranging in size to 2mm!!! This specimen is simply amazing in person, and upon close inspection hosts some of the finest examples I have seen of the species for their size!!! This specimen retains an old label from Bill Pinch that has notation from him on the reverse that says, "an unusually fine example of both minerals"!!!
