8.54cm x 5.66cm x 5.28cm
Ex. L. L. Hubbard Collection (1849-1933)
Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum #DM-5443
Description/Interesting Notes:
An outstanding, old time example of cuprite from this classic Arizona locality!!! This specimen consists of a very dense
mass of solid native copper and cuprite that hosts a striking display of bright red cuprite crystals in association with finely
dendritic tufts of native copper completely encrusted by microcrystalline cuprite!!! In person, this old time beauty is quite showy indeed!!!
The cuprite crystals have razor-sharp faces with highly complex and modified forms!!! The crystals have gorgeous red color and marked
clarity!!! The crystallization is much more significant and prominent than the pics show!!! One can see large
areas of exposed native copper around the sides of the specimen along with some protruding masses and subhedral forms!!!
This specimen is simply gorgeous in person - the pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! This
is OLD material and likely dates to the late 1800's or very early 1900's!!! This specimen is from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum and
retains an old museum label with L. L. Hubbard Collection (1849-1933) notation!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 19th!!!
