Cuprite with Miersite, Marshite, & Native Silver Rubtsovskoe Cu-Zn-Pb deposit, Rudnyi Altai, Altaiskii Krai, Western-Siberian Region, Russia 5.7cm x 4.36cm x 3.84cm

Description/Interesting Notes: An incredible example of cuprite with rare miersite from the new find in Russia!!! The cuprite specimens from this new find in Russia were one of the more exciting finds at the Tucson show this year, however there were just a few specimens that had rare miersite crystals in association!!! We examined nearly all of the cuprite specimens available in Tucson and only encountered a few examples of miersite association!!! This specimen was the best example of miersite that we found by far!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of sharp, brilliant octahedral crystals of cuprite that host a rich association with tan-yellow to sulphur-yellow crystals of miersite!!! In addition to the miersite, there are a few scattered crystals of marshite and some tiny crystals of native silver!!! The miersite crystals are present as dense clusters of tiny, translucent crystals while the marshite crystals are present as complex individual crystals without yellow color (in person the marshite fluoresces)!!! The native silver is present as fine submillimeter crystals on the cuprite and within some areas of miersite (it may be pseudomorphous on these specimens!)!!! The bottom of the specimen hosts a very rich showing of miersite in an area of cuprite crystals that are complexly etched and slightly altered!!! This specimen is in terrific condition and is way better than the pics show!!! Simply an amazing example of this very rare species - on an example of cuprite that is significant in its own right!!!
