Description/Interesting Notes:
An outstanding example of cuprite and native silver from the new find in Russia!!! These incredible Russian cuprite
specimens were one of the more exciting finds we encountered at this year's Tucson show!!! While these specimens started
trickling out last year, a recent find produced some truly exceptional material indeed!!! This was one of the more
impressive native silver and cuprite combos that I came across (and there are very few to begin with)!!! This specimen
consists of a showy cluster of razor-sharp, octahedral cuprite crystals that hosts a rich showing of tin-white native silver!!!
The cuprite crystals are sharp and complete with many crystals having very
slight cubic modifications on their corners!!! The specimen is in fantastic condition all around and displays magnificently from
almost every angle!!!
While most of the cuprite specimens from this locality tend to be near black in color, this specimen
shows flashes of deep red within!!! The native silver exhibits a complex
dendritic habit that is likely pseudomorphic after miersite or another halide!!! Upon close inspection, there are some
tiny areas of native copper present among the silver crystals and, on one such area there is a tiny marshite crystal!!!
This is a killer example
of cuprite and native silver from this amazing find (which is no doubt a future classic!)!!! Don't miss
out on this valuable specimen!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 3rd!!!
