A fantastic example of cuprite with native copper and silver from Russia!!! While
there were a number of cuprite and native copper after cuprite specimens to be found at the Tucson Show, this was
one of just a few such examples we found where the native copper was also being replaced by native silver as well!!! This specimen
consists of a complex group of intergrown cuprite crystals that is being replaced by native copper AND native silver!!! The cuprite
is lustrous, sharp, and complete!!! The native copper is well crystallized, but it is also intimately associated with crystalline
native silver!!! The resulting patina and hue is quite handsome and unique!!! The native silver replacing the native copper is
well crystallized and distinct, although there are areas where it appears they could be mixed as well!!!
There is also
a mass of finely dendritic native silver present as well, this is the more common presentation, where the native silver is likely a pseudomorph
after miersite or related halide!!! This specimen is as handsome as it is unique!!! The crystal is in fantastic condition and displays
magnificently all around!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
