Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of cuprite and native silver from the recent find in Russia!!! This specimen consists of a sharp, single
crystal of cuprite in association with some minor native silver and unidentified white crystals!!! The cuprite crystal is a very
sharp single octahedron with prominent cubo-octahedral modications!!! The crystal is a complete floater with no point of attachment and is
complete and undamaged all around!!! The crystal has glassy, razor-sharp faces and shows significant flashes of red within!!! Upon close inspection,
one can see some areas of fine dendritic (almost spongiform) native silver in association (likely pseudomorphism after miersite or other halide)!!!
Additionally, the crystal hosts a significant showing of unidentified white crystals!!! These white crystals are quite
well formed and have marked luster, it is possible that they are dolomite crystals (they are not marshite crystals, which have
been associated with a number of these cuprite specimens)!!! I must stress that the pictures don't even come close
to capturing just how fine this specimen is - it is a gorgeous single crystal with superb quality!!! This locality
is no doubt going to be a future classic!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 15th!!!
