An absolutely outstanding example of cuprite and native copper from this historic locale!!! Let me start off by saying this specimen is way, WAY
better than the pics show - this specimen had a previous price tag of $5k and it is easily worth well more than that!!! This specimen consists
of a native copper matrix that is just loaded with sharp, intense red octahedral crystals of cuprite to 8mm in combination!!! What really
makes this specimen even more exciting is that there are numerous crystals of cuprite that are in various stages of pseudomorphism to native copper!!!
In some cases the pseudomorphism is nearly complete while in others it appears that there is copper just below the surface of the cuprite!!!
This native copper alteration has given the cuprite crystals a very dramatic and intense ruby red color that almost looks metallic!!! The color
is absolutely exceptional in person!!! The crystals are in fantastic condition and the specimen displays magnificently all around!!! This is a
KILLER 19th century specimen (there is a $10.00 price tag on the bottom of the specimen that likely dates to the original sale of the specimen - which
was a HUGE sum in those days!)!!! This specimen retains an old, 19th century label from the British Museum of Natural History as well!!!
This specimen is truly stunning in person - you do not want to miss out on this valuable classic beauty!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
