Cuprite with Native Silver Rubtsovskoe Cu-Zn-Pb deposit, Rudnyi Altai, Altaiskii Krai, Western-Siberian Region, Russia 5.57cm x 5.1cm x 4.43cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A large and impressive example of cuprite from this incredible recent find!!! This specimen consists of a very large octahedral crystal of cuprite with numerous other smaller octahedral cuprite crystals and some minor native silver and unidentified halides in association!!! The cuprite crystals have brilliantly lustrous faces and characteristic slightly curved faces!!! The crystals have dark color with flashes of red visible throughout!!! There are several small areas of native silver and whitish microcrystals of unidentified halides tucked in the recesses between crystals!!! The native silver has a characteristic, almost granular appearance (I am told this is due to pseudomorphism after halides) and flat grayish color!!! Although there is some minor damage on one side, it does not detract when measured against the specimen's impressive size!!! Simpy an incredible specimen all around!!! Very impressive and showy in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
