Malachite pseudomorph after Cuprite

Chessy-les-Mines, Rhone, Rhone-Alpes, France

1.13cm x 1.12cm x .95cm

.98cm x .78cm x .64cm

Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic example of malachite after cuprite from France!!! This is a pair of specimens - one specimen consists of a cluster of intergrown crystals that exhibit lively green color, while the other specimen is a larger single crystal with darker color!!! The crystals both exhibit modified cubo-octahedral forms with complex features!!! The group of intergrown crystals exhibits classic malachite pseudomorphism while the larger crystal appears to be a cuprite crystal with only slight alteration to malachite!!! They make a neat pair for this very reason!!! This pair of crystals has a single corresponding label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum as well!!! Classic old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
