Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic, old time example of vesuvianite var. cyprine from the type locale in Norway!!! This specimen consists of a
dense cluster of intergrown crystals of intense blue cyprine crystals in association with intergrown purple fluorite!!!
The specimen is loaded with well crystallized, intense blue cyprine all around the specimen!!! The cyprine is much more
crystalline than the pics show - with lustrous, parallel associated crystals visible on every side!!!
The blue color is rich and intense with areas of marked translucence!!! There are numerous intergrown crystals of
lively purple fluorite scattered throughout the specimen as well!!! The specimen's old labels mention thulite being in association, which
is often the case at this locality - however fluorite is also common as well and it appears that the fluorite was
likely misattributed as thulite!!! This specimen retains an old label from the collection of Dick Hauck as well as an old, unattributed
label that likely dates to the 19th century!!! Simply a fantastic example of this colorful vesuvianite varietal!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
