Description/Interesting Notes:
An extraordinary, old time example of this rare species from Rhode Island!!! This specimen consists of a large, rich mass of
danalite that hosts incredible, large areas of crystalline danalite along with sharp individual crystals in association with
purple fluorite!!! In addition to these two main species, the matrix hosts tiny cavities that show some incredible microcrystals of
greenockite (sharp and lustrous!) as well as associated zircon, rutile, riebeckite and possibly other species (the matrix is literally amazing when examined
with a loupe or scope!)!!! The danalite has deep red color and, although it is largely opaque, there are numerous small areas
of near gemmy clarity!!! Danalite is almost always found as amorphous grains or masses, with crystalline material being
quite rare!!! This specimen hosts a broad face that shows incredible crystallization for the species!!! In addition, there are
numerous significant crystal faces scattered throughout the specimen AND there are a few small complete crystals of gemmy
danalite present near the purple fluorite as well!!! This is an extraordinary example of danalite from any locality - and an
incredible specimen for Rhode Island as well!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!!
