Description/Interesting Notes:
An incredible example of datolite from Michigan!!! The overwhelming majority of datolite specimens from Michigan are
seen as characteristic, amorphous nodules with crystalline examples of any size being quite rare!!! This specimen consists of
a fine group of sharp, lustrous crystals that measure to over 1.3cm!!! The crystals are in fantastic condition with sharp, lustrous faces and
sharply defined crystals (a few of the crystals show shallow, etched features however these are not damage)!!! The crystals have a whitish color and have some slight areas of translucence as well!!! Upon close inspection with
a loupe or scope, some tiny areas of native copper can be seen throughout the basalt matrix!!! Simply an incredible
example of the species for the locality!!! This specimen is in fantastic condition and displays magnificently in person!!!
This specimen retains an old label from the collection of Irenee du Pont, Sr. (1876-1963) and retains an
affixed catalogue number from the University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 8th!!!
