Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic, old time example of datolite from Connecticut!!! This specimen consists of a luster of sharp, gemmy crystals of pale green datolite in
association with small, scattered crystals of calcite!!! The datolite crystals are sharp, complex, brilliantly lustrous, and gemmy!!! The
calcite crystals are present as complex scalenohedral crystals with a slightly frosted appearance!!! Many of the datolite crystals host a secondary, glittery druze of
tiny datolite crystals as well as some tiny calcite crystals!!! This old time specimen is quite handsome in person and
WAY better than the pics show!!! This specimen is from the collection of John I. Legro (1842-1923) and retains its original label and
affixed catalogue numbers!!! John Legro was a one time resident of New Britian
and this specimen was likely collected prior to the 1880's!!! Classic old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 26th!!!
