Davidite-(La)

Crocker's Well, Plumbago Station, Olary Province, South Australia, Australia

9.8cm x 6cm x 4.45cm

Ex. Irenee du Pont, Sr. Collection (1876-1963)

Ex. University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum

Description/Interesting Notes:

A fantastic example of this rare species from Australia!!! This specimen hosts numerous sharply formed crystals of davidite in matrix!!! Typically davidite crystals are seen only as single crystals, however this is a large, matrix specimen that hosts numerous, sharp crystals measuring up to 1.4cm!!! The crystals are quite sharply formed for the species!!! The crystals jut prominently from the matrix and some of them exhibit marked luster as well!!! This is an amazing, old time example of this rare species!!! This specimen retains an old label from the collection of Irenee du Pont, Sr. (1876-1963) and retains an affixed catalogue number from the University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
