Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific example of demantoid garnet from Italy!!! Let me start by saying that this specimen has lively chartreuse green color in person, however for some reason it does not show up in the digital pictures unless full spectrum lighting is used!!! The pictures that show rich green color were taken using full spectrum fluorescent lighting and come closer to its actual color in person!!! The crystals have the classic, lively chartreuse green color that these Italian specimens are so famous for!!! The crystals are on a serpentine matrix and are in association with leather-like asbestiform palygorskite!!! The crystals exhibit a complex, unusually compressed habit with curved, striated faces and other curious features!!! The crystals are more lustrous than the pictures show as well!!! Classic material!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
