Demantoid Garnet Usakos, Karibib District, Erongo Region, Namibia 3.04cm x 2.1cm x 1.42cm Ex. Wolfgang Pohl Collection No. 358

Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific example of demantoid garnet from Namibia!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of dark green crystals of demantoid on a small amount of matrix!!! The crystals are sharp and lustrous!!! There are more crystals that could be easily revealed under a small layer of soft matrix!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Wolfgang Pohl worked in the mining industry in Namibia in the 70s and 80s and was a prolific collector and dealer during and after this time!!! He would make trips back and forth to his native Germany trading specimens he had acquired in Africa for worldwide specimens!!! Pohl was rather meticulous with his labeling and record keeping with most of the specimens in the collection having catalogue numbers, label with info on locale, source/dealer info, acquisition date, and any other relevant notes!!! However, the most interesting feature is that most of the labels also had a small sketch of the specimen on the reverse side as well!!!
