A magnificent example of descloizite from Berg Aukus!!! This specimen consists of an aesthetic
group of complex, intergrown crystals of descloizite!!! The crystals consist of
thin, bladed "stalks" that terminate into blocky groups of crystals!!! This specimen is pristine and undamaged!!! It is a very
fine example of the species, and is quite impressive in person!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen
is from the Wolfgang Pohl collection and retains his original label!!!
Wolfgang Pohl worked in the mining industry in Namibia in the 70s and 80s and was a
prolific collector and dealer during and after this time!!! He would make trips back
and forth to his native Germany trading specimens he had acquired in Africa for
worldwide specimens!!! Pohl was rather meticulous with his labeling and record keeping
with most of the specimens in the collection having catalogue numbers, label with info
on locale, source/dealer info, acquisition date, and any other relevant notes!!!
However, the most interesting feature is that most of the labels also had a small sketch
of the specimen on the reverse side as well!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
